Magic show, contests with prizes, songs and beautiful gift for each child - those were happy hours spent with children in Huaycan filled with laughter and joy! We would like to thank sponsors (see the list), volunteers and administration of zona 12 de Agosto for all your help and making it possible! On the site we joined forces with volunteers and doctors from Ministerio de Salud that conducted free medical campaign for mommies while their children were having fun playing with us. Program started with the show of magic, and what show that was! Kids were spellbound by living dove appearing from "empty" hat, white bunny they could pet at the end. Interactive show by Magojan kept kids entertained for 45 min. And they didn't just watched, the bolder ones had a chance to participate and performed tricks themselves! After the show, we started the tournaments. By this time the sun came out and the day was bright and sunny. Each child received a "pass" that would enable them to get the prize. They needed to complete each game: pop the balloon with the dart, catch the fish, bowling, rings. Of course there were no losers and everyone was eligible to recieve their prizes: beautiful girl purses (thank you Iasa Corporation-Do It!), dragons and princesses (hats of to Bembos), and colorful quality vinyl balls (thanks to CIPSA). While children were playing, mommies participated in free medical campaign by Ministerio de Salud concerning the usage of certain medications. Special thanks to Sra. Marita for driving us to Huaycan and helping during the program. Jemima, Karen and Karlita you were big help with the children! Thank you all! You put smile on their faces! Bembos SAC Recently the team of orthodontist with their mobile dentist unit accompany us on our visits to Huaycan. They donate their time and equipment to provide dental care for mothers and children. We watched with amazement how much they can do in such difficult conditions, where there is no running water and no electricity. Applause and hats off to you Sr. Janet and Sr. Veronica! SEE PHOTOS Mother's Day is celebrated in the beginning of May in Peru and it was our hearts desire to prepare lot's of surprises for mothers in Huaycan. Ahead of time Maria approached companies to donate gifts and prizes. She prepared contests with prizes, we served refreshments and gifts for all: cosmetics, chocolates, basket with groceries, all sponsored by local companies. At the end we spoke on the importance of motherhood. SEE PHOTOS Kukolnyj teater Obraztsov Sergey Obraztsov is credited by Encyclopædia Britannica with "establishing puppetry as an art form." His puppet theater is known worldwide. Today we saw why. Together with 11 children from Huaycan we watched in amazement puppets turned alive! Puppets danced, played instruments, told the story... Children were spellbound. After all was done the puppeteers had to explain to children that in reality puppets are operated by their skilled hands and not alive. It was one in a life time experience for all of us! You can find out more about Sergey Obraztsov here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sergey_Obraztsov December 4th, 10:30 am at the Municipalidad de Santa Anita took place ceremony of donating educational books and DVDs for 11 poorest schools of Santa Anita district. Each school received set of 29 DVDs, six beautifully illustrated hard cover books containing narration on CD, 10 CDs with songs and dramas, 2 sets of 35 posters portraying good manners and last, but not least - motivational quote book for the principal desk. Present were: Alcaldesa Leonor Chumbimune, Gerente General Juan Carlos Marin Silva, school directors and project managers of Sanando Corazones Peru. The donation of materials worth of 7700$ was possible due to generosity of Activated Ministries, the charity based in US whose mission is "to strengthen families and children by promoting and teaching the moral values and character-building principles of the Bible." We are happy to report that the project to construct a new community center (Asentamiento Humano) in the Villa San Juan district of Pamplona Alta was completed successfully. We wish to thank the visiting team that came down from Michigan (U.S.) to help us with this humanitarian initiative. Ed, Judith, Marv, Anita, Elaine, and Erin lived with us at our center/residence for 2 weeks and worked side-by-side with us, donating both their time and financial resources in a desire to help our Sanando Corazones charity improve the lives of the 60 families that are serviced by the small center. We couldn't have done it without your help! Much thanks also to our local Peruvian colleagues, who also helped in many different ways. It was a true teamwork effort, and every person was needed. We want to thank all the volunteers for a job well done! Their tireless work and unselfish giving bettered the lives of hundreds of people much less fortunate than ourselves. We look forward to greater participation and collaboration in the future |
